ADOLESCENTS

Our adolescents are required to navigate an increasingly complex world. As they develop, they may well encounter situations or stages in which life's challenges feel overwhelming. During these times, articulating needs and feelings, and answering important questions such as, 'Who am I?', 'How can I feel safe?' and 'Where am I going?' can require additional support.

My approach with adolescents involves relational talk therapy, mindfulness, CBT and somatic psychotherapy. I believe in building resilience and coping skills in teens, while committing to holding a safe, trusting space for them to process a range of issues:

  • Anxiety (including situation specific, and phobias)

  • Addictions and compulsive behaviors

  • Depression

  • Self esteem

  • Relationship issues (LGBTQ+ affirmative, and sex positive)

  • Trauma/PTSD

  • Attachment

  • Divorce

I also offer short-term trauma resolution from crises such as shootings, home invasions, hostage situations, car accidents and witnessing of trauma.

I am a mother of two beautiful children and in addition to my clinical experience with kids (see bio), I have extended training in EMDR to treat complex trauma in teens. I also integrate effective parenting into treatment, where indicated.
